This year’s Winter School was held from November 15 to 23, and took place through the following webinars and workshops: “BioMed & Health Leadership” (webinar), “Securing Research and Innovation Funding” (webinar), “New Venture Creation” (webinar) ), “Partnering for Innovation” (webinar), “Startup Entrepreneurship for Researchers” (workshop) and “Communicating your Work to Partners and Funders” (workshop). Over 100 participants had the opportunity to listen to inspiring lectures by experts from the academic community, but also to hear examples of successful business stories of lecturers from industry from Croatia and the world. In addition, participants attended hands-on workshops where they had the opportunity to learn what it takes to start a start-up company based on their own research as well as ways to attract partners and investors for their project.
This year, on behalf of the BIOCenter, the director of the BIOCenter, Marija Lovrić, PhD, participated in a panel discussion entitled “Health & Innovation Leadership in Practice”. The topic of the panel discussion was the personal experiences of the panelists as experts in this field – their motivation, leadership experience, career development, the qualities needed for quality leadership, the challenges they face and their approach to solving them.
